Mixed Media on Plaster Casts

The blue casts represent the healing power of colour - in this case shades of blue, for those times that we need rest. The two casts were donated to me for my use by my sister as she recovered from a broken leg. I used remnants of old fabrics as well as some felted pieces, and embellished with embroidery and beading. My fibre art pieces are often more than is apparent at first glance as I strive to capture my relationship with the subject, and the emotion, meaning and spirit embodied within. To create my pieces, I explore the interaction of colours, textures, and materials best suited to the piece, then build the layers, stitching, shaping, transforming, and embellishing.

Anne Warburton is a fibre artist working with fabric, paper, paint and alternative materials and embellishments. She has learned her craft through both experimentation and numerous classes in fibre art techniques and painting. She is artist-trained in the expressive arts therapies and learning facilitation. Anne teaches art to all age groups, while promoting its wellness benefits. She recently founded Fibre 15, a local fibre arts group who meet to create, inspire and share, and who now meet online to focus on the positive energy of being creative. She is past chair of the Navan Fine Arts annual show, and exhibits her work through several local arts organizations.
