I love to sit in the sun. I think of it as healing and life giving. People can be like the sun. In my journey with Muscular Dystrophy I have had and have many healthcare professionals cross my path. Some bring light with them. That light comes in many forms - a word of kindness, the act of performing basic daily living tasks for and with me, laughter, finding a medication that helps. This painting represents all those people who bring sunlight my way. I bask in their healing presence.

I'm Kathryn Penner. I love to paint in watercolour and occasionally write. I have Muscular Dystrophy and have benefited greatly over the years from many in the healthcare professions. I currently live with my sister and brother-in-law. I have healthcare aides in home to help me with all forms of basic daily activities. These are caring, life-giving people with whom I talk and laugh and enjoy life. My family are my greatest resource and my primary caregivers. They're the best.
