24 x 24 x 1.5 in (h x w x d)
Acrylic on canvas

A local family, who’s son was born with a heart defect, went through years of surgeries and hospital visits. The Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, was oneof those stays. This hospital’s foundation, has for a mascot, the Stollery Bear: a white teddy bear with a doctor’s mirror and a heart for a nose.
The family’s son is now an adult. He grew up because of the doctor’s help. They commissioned this painting as a thank you to this foundation. Even Teddy Bears Grow, depicts an adult white bear with a mirror on its forehead. The imagery goes on to tell of howthe little bears can grow up. Surrounded by the plant called Bleeding Heart, it speaks to the doctors healing many bleeding hearts over the years.
