Paratroopers Final Manifest

Bio: My name is Sgt Ken Katter (Retired).
I am a prior Recon Marine and served from 1990-1994.

During my break in service, I worked as a police officer in Michigan from 1995-2005. I had been following the war in Iraq for several years. After my oldest nephew was wounded, I then decided to resign from my police job and go back into the military.

At 36 yrs old I joined the Army 82nd Airborne. I was deployed to Iraq for 15 months in August 2006. In May 2007 I was wounded from a roadside bomb, but I was able to finish the rest of my deployment. I received a Purple Heart in 2007. I was assigned to the Wounded Warrior Battalion and medically retired in August 2010.

Impact art has made: I didn’t start painting until February 2020. Art helps me with my cognitive issues and memory recall. Art let’s me use my imagination to create whatever I want. Art gives me a sense of accomplishment and a purpose.

New Beginnings: “From death comes life and New Beginnings.”

Piece created with: Acrylic paint and a 18x24” canvas.
