Space Between Thoughts , 2021
120 x 100 cm (h x w)
Acrylic and oil on canvas

I painted this quickly in three hours and it was about having fun. I wanted the colours to come out of the black emptiness like thoughts arising and ceasing in the mind, relating and influencing one another and filling the space.

The different thoughts are the bubbles and ideas that I thought about at the time. The paint was squeezed directly from the tube and had an immediacy and motion that I enjoyed. It felt like spray painting but with oil paint.
