Breaking It , 2022

When I saw the topic “Women in Chemistry”, the first thing I thought was “why they need to specify wom¬en?” Then I started to think about the stereotype people are having in genders. For centuries, our so¬ciety believed that women were weak in sciences and maths, and they were usually forbidden to study or work for these professions. However, there were still so many great female scientists who fought their way out of this hard situation. Therefore, I created this illustration to show a lady breaking “the boundary”, freeing herself and her beloved chemistry from the deep sea. After the boundary is bro¬ken, the normal chemistry equations and formulas become beautiful flowers, blooming in the sky.
