光與影
Lights and Shadows
菲律賓移工被認為是「現代英雄」，因為他們不只透過匯款貢獻了國家的經濟成長，也犧牲了自己能與家人在一起的機會。為了家人選擇出國工作、承擔在異國需要面對的風險，是光亮的一面。
而光亮背後的陰影，是多數菲律賓人以為出國工作就能賺大錢，但更多時候，他們其實未能獲得預期的收入，因為他們必須將大部分的錢，寄回給家裡。他們需要為家人作出犧牲，甚至忽略了自己在海外工作生活的最基本所需。
但我很開心能夠擁有在台灣的這段經驗。我在這邊成長了很多，我認識了美妙的人們，一個人比一個人更好；我品嚐了陌生的口味、欣賞美麗的風景、感受溫暖的冬天、體驗登山過後的腳痛，還有許多歡笑、哭泣、學習新事物、旅行等經驗。我絕對會和我的朋友家人分享這些在台灣生活的片段。
Overseas Filipino Workers are considered as the “modern-day heroes” because they don’t only contribute to their country’s economic growth through remittances, but also sacrifice their chance of being with their families. By being the LIGHT they choose to work overseas to be able to provide for their loved ones regardless of the risks they will have to face in a foreign land.
The SHADOWS behind that is most Filipinos think that working abroad will earn them big money but sometimes, they don’t receive the high income that they expected. Since they send almost all of their income to their families back home, they need to make sacrifices and even neglect their basic needs while living abroad.
But I am delighted to have had this experience in Taiwan. I would have grown up a lot here, discovered wonderful people, each one nicer than the next, participated in strange taste experiences, seen beautiful landscapes, spent a mild and warm winter, had pain in my feet after beautiful hikes in the mountains, laughed, cried, worked, learned new things, travelled.... I would definitly share this piece of my life in Taiwan with my friends and family.
