Climate art is the art inspired by climate change
For a few months now I have the opportunity to paint in my own studio. A creative space for feelings, thoughts, color and brushes. Four years ago, my son climbed with me through the north face of the biggest of the 3 Zinnen in the dolomites. A formative experience. I would like to introduce you to the Climate Art painting "Mountain in Climate Change", which I was able to finish on Sunday.
What shaped the artwork? In such a mighty and steep wall, you feel like an ant looking into the landscape with binoculars. You look out over the rubble, forests and alpine meadows below you. Wonder if the drought and the beetle will turn the green to brown. When painting, the thought swings to the forest fires that were triggered in the northern hemisphere by the extreme heat and drought. The color yellow begins to spread throughout the image, destroying details. The feeling of standing at the summit is very intense. A mix of Joy and fear, like bright colors on the canvas. Another quick thought, the starting point in the morning. You have to climb back. A huge parking area for thousands of cars that have been torn into the alpine meadows. An unknown complicated descent lies ahead of you.
