Gregg Stone was born in Los Angeles and is a 10th generation Californian. His formal art training was at Orange Coast College, and received his BA at Art Center College of Design. His Mexican heritage both reflects and inspires his painting and sculpture. He worked as a freelance illustrator for various Los Angeles publications before becoming a street junkie. Living in San Diego, he would spend a lot of time in Tijuana, where his unique blend of border-life depictions of street life developed. Surviving this chapter was challenging for Gregg, but now being clear headed and clean, he creates the challenging subjects inherent in the border region with vigor and vitality, always presenting the individual in a respectful, yet realistic manner.
