She was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco in a liberal family. Her father was in the clothing business and traveled frequently.
She was raised Muslim in a spiritual way with poetic insight into the Koran. She elected to move to Florida when she was 17 to have more opportunities in her future.
She met her husband who came from a Jewish background, married him and had two children together. She returned to Morocco to be with her mother in her last weeks of life as she was crossing over to the other side.
