Photograph and fabric mask
This hyper feminine mask explores the nature of gender identity that forces one to fit into either the masculine or feminine category. The uncomfortably tight stretched and eerie turned inside out pink textile shows the unnatural aspect of adhering to societally instilled standards. With unrefined large embroidered lashes, symbolically female pearls and a black fabric around the mouth to exaggerate lips features I question what it means to be a woman in a world ruled by artificial perfection.
