Shuangxing is a Chinese private company that runs a bathhouse established in 1916 located in Fengtai district, Beijing. Since Beijing is in the north region of China, the climate is usually extremely cold, especially in winter. Therefore, taking a hot shower and enjoying leisure time in a public bathhouse was the best way to relax for an old Beijinger. However, nowadays this century-old shop has received the title of “The oldest bathhouse in Beijing”, as it is one of only a few old public bathhouses that still exist, preserving the last glimmer of the “Traditional Beijing Bathhouse culture”.

The shop is now a rundown place, and facing the threat of demolition work by the urban planning department. However, Shuangxing still publicly claims they are there to "serve the people'' as always. There are still some die-hards customers maintaining their patronage and love of this public bathhouse, some who even like to drive for an hour to get there. Therefore, the company is considering opening a new shop at Shaoyaoju Beili which is far away from the origin, but a better environment and closer to the downtown area.

The client requires a design for a new bathhouse as well as an additional installation space, that would be located offsite and aims to educate the next generation about the cultural significance of bathhouses in China.
