English
In the Nahua community of Zoquitipa in the Huasteca Potosina,
José González, an Elder musician, fights to preserve the ‘Danza
de las Varitas’, Dance of the Wands, with a group of women from
the town. They are fighting against ethnic discrimination inside
and outside the municipality of Tamazunchale, and the loss of the
Nahuatl language and traditions by the new generations who are
taught to speak Spanish.
