Village of the Jester , 2022
colored pencil

Clowns, who are often deemed nightmarish, are reimagined in this piece to be dreamlike through the tears of a weeping clown. Many people are afraid of clowns, but in this Surrealistic scene they symbolize fantasy elements that are real in the human world. From the tears of the main clown spill many odd objects–ranging from humanoids, to animal hybrids, to weird apparel–which represent the intelligent and peculiar ideas that the mind is capable of imagining. This colorful creation shows that dreams harbor all possibilities.
