Childhood Cauchemar , 2022
Digital Art

My artwork depicts childhood trauma and plays on the nightmare aspect of a dream. The young girl dreams of playful childhood objects such as unicorns, stuffed animals, and dolls; yet each figure embodies darkness from her past. Her childhood memories haunt her. The intensity of these traumatic experiences is illustrated through vibrant hues to show that children sometimes fail initially to realize the impact of their trauma. As they grow older, they start understanding the sad reality that was hidden behind the eyes of naivete. The mother and child in the nighttime clouds symbolize the purity of childhood and growth into adulthood.
