Singled Out , 2021
40 x 28.5 in (h x w)

It is not easy for individuals in our society to fall "outside the norm". To be considered different and thus be treated differently is challenging and can lead to feelings of isolation and estrangement. This piece deals with the emotion of being singled out as a consequence of a different body image, in this case, my tallness. I have learned to live with the reactions and comments of my fellow human beings, but it makes me aware of how we tend to judge based on first impressions.
