Artist Biography
Since 1999, Jennifer Farrell has operated Starshaped Press in Chicago, with a focus on designing and printing everything from business cards to posters, as well as custom commissions, wholesale ephemera, and limited edition prints and books. All work in the studio is created with metal and wood type, making Starshaped one of the few presses in the country producing commercial work while preserving antique type and related print materials. Jennifer’s work has been repeatedly recognized in books, magazines and design blogs, and has appeared in poster shows throughout the United States and Europe.

Description of Process
Ladies! is the fourth print in a series of prints using type that is mostly 100 years old and could have been used to print pro- (or anti-) suffrage posters. This particular print seeks to point out the changed landscape of women's bodily autonomy following the fall of Roe v. Wade in June, 2022. The text is written in homage to the sarcastic but truthful stylings of The Guerrilla Girls’ The Advantages of Being a Woman Artist and recognizes that men are little affected by the policies and lack of accurate information that so greatly affect the day to day lives of women in this country.
