Description of Process
Tape Type is a series that was created for the “36 Days of Type” design challenge. Each letter of the alphabet, plus numbers and an ampersand, were printed using three layers of packing tape. The type is based off of an existing wood typeface. The wood type was letterpress printed, scanned, digitally enlarged, inkjet printed, cut out, and traced onto a Boxcar base. The outline was used as a guide to adhere crumpled up packing tape to the base and printed on a Vandercook No. 4 in yellow, pink, and blue.
