Imperfect Me , 2023
114 x 130 cm (h x w)
Digital Collage

This artwork incorporates different pieces from E-magazines. The artist uses an image of her own eye, and features from different women, to create a face that becomes the "portal" for all women. Over the years, women have been attached to labels that define and restrict them, yet they continue trying to achieve unrealistic societal standards of beauty. The figure in this work is fragmented by these standards. She loses her identity and is like a manipulated puppet. One of the main reasons that women are not empowered is that they often make their bodies disappear, if they have suffered sexual assault. This work rethinks what a “good girl” should be and encourages women to be brave and pursue their own futures.
