Poem and Photograph

The short poem “The Spring from Infant, to Child, to No Longer Younger,” describes the beauty of the human developmental cycle from infancy to adulthood, as well as everything in between. Spring holds its usual associations of growth, love, and care and exemplifies how care and love guides us as we age. The poem emphasizes how, through this cycle of our lives, we may change, grow, and make mistakes; but, through the recognition of this cycle, we become whole. Each stanza represents a different stage in the transitional period that has been made relatable through poetry.
