Etching and aquatint

Bontecou’s unique style uses geometric shapes to compose other-worldly creatures and biomorphic forms that evoke the realm of science fiction. While her sculptures play with three-dimensional volume and extend into the space of the viewer, her prints explore the illusion of movement and depth from the flat surface of the paper, creating worlds of their own.
