This is the closest I will get to painting my father, more than half of all black children live in single-parent households... children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it - Barack Obama

The self-portrait is of Tennesha as a baby in a solid bright pink onesie held up by her seated father. Her father is wearing a solid bright blue top and light blue pants. The background is a solid fiery orange with solid red flowers with green stems behind her. There is a solid brown table to the right with a solid red cloth and a solid white small sculpture on top. The left side of the canvas is missing, cutting off her father leaving just his hands holding her up symbolizing her and other black individuals raised without a father.
