The goal of my project isn’t to portray the realities of our world in its current state but instead to present an idea of peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

For my project I decided to not necessarily ignore the history between the two groups but instead to push it aside for a bit because of my belief that the anger, sadness, fear and other emotions the conflict created is holding back any chance for real progress. This isn’t a denial of Israeli and Palestinian experiences but instead a new chance to look at a combined future not only off of the mainland but also inside of it.
I decided to design an Artificial Island located off of the coast of Ashkelon and Gaza City that can be accessed by boat.

I realized over the summer that I was able to have unique conversations regarding these more difficult topics when I had distance from the actual events and was given the opportunity to contemplate and consider the issues without being under threat.

I believe creating a space that is isolated from the mainland can allow for a unique discourse to be created between both groups while also allowing for the two groups to create friendships between each other. I decided that all buildings should in some way be connected to each other via walkways that connect green spaces.
