9741 km is the distance between my home in Mexico City and my home in Berlin. The triptych depicts the places where I exist in both cities, my room.

In Berlin it is nighttime, I’m sleeping, the night is quiet and there is no light. In Mexico City, my room is empty, a liminal space that serves no purpose anymore. Outside the sun is shining, the weather is warm and the flowers are blossoming.

The space between the rooms is my effort to live both lives at the same time, falling behind and always trying to catch up with who I used to be and with who I currently am.

Despite the distance, I live on. Every time I fall asleep I dream with a life left behind, what is my mother doing? What are my friends up to? A life back home that goes on without me, a life I can only dream about while sleeping.
