Donkey and camel milk production has become a popular form of exploitation in recent years, but it didn't start with the captivity of animals for milk production. Instead, it emerged as a method of exploitation to profit from the milk of animals used for entertainment or load-carrying purposes at camel wrestling festivals—an indicator of how intertwined different forms of exploitation can be.

It was the first time I had such close contact with the donkeys. I couldn't take a wide-angle photo of the donkeys standing in the barn, because when they saw me, they came right up to me. In rural Turkey, donkeys are raped and widely used as beasts of burden. On the day I was shooting, I realized why these beautiful animals go through what they do. Their trusting relationships make them vulnerable to abuse.

Eşek sütü ve deve sütü üreticiliği, son yıllarda popüler hale gelmiş bir sömürü biçimi. Aslında temelde süt üretimi için hiçbir hayvan esir edilerek başlamamış. Deve güreşlerinde ve festivallerde eğlence amacıyla ya da yük taşıması için kullanılan hayvanların sütünden de kar etmek amacıyla ortaya çıkmış bir sömürü yöntemi. Bu da sömürülerin ne kadar iç içe geçtiğinin bir göstergesi.

Eşeklerle ilk kez bu kadar yakın temas kurdum. Ahırda duran eşeklerin geniş açılı bir fotoğrafını çekemedim, çünkü beni gördüklerinde hemen yanıma geldiler. Türkiye'nin kırsal kesiminde eşekler tecavüze uğruyor ve yaygın olarak yük hayvanı olarak kullanılıyor. Çekim yaptığım gün, bu güzel hayvanların neden bunları yaşadıklarını anladım. Güvene dayalı ilişkileri onları istismara açık hale getiriyor.
