By the Brook , 2023
76 x 56 x 1 cm (h x w x d)
Watercolour and acrylic on paper

With my painting ‘By the Brook’, the piece started out as a sketch made by the brook in the local park. I wanted it to have a feel of place. Then I used James Price painting as a guide, taking his lines, squiggles and signs to decorate my watercolour to see where it would go. I wanted to think about where James Price found his lines and language, but also having a dialogue pushed my own work further, I was aiming at something unattainable.
