Uganda. This a pile of plastic bottles collected by Annette Tumuhirwe from the suburbs of Banda, Naalya and Kireka. Tumuhirwe Annette, 49, has been collecting plastic bottles for about 6 years and this is how she has been raising school fees for her children. She was introduced to this business by a friend with whom she used to assist to collect plastics and now she has established her own collection center.

One day on my way to work, I saw a lady carrying sacks of bottles, I stopped and asked her do you not have children or someone to help you carry these heavy sacks?

Annette was kind enough to tell me about her work and family. On another day, I met Sarah and then later on Hajjat.

These women work hard for their children and grandchildren and their contribution to the environment should be noticed. They should be encouraged and paid for their service as exemplary citizens of Uganda. That is was inspired this story and work.
