Sarah carries a sack of plastic bottles across a trench. She was abandoned by her husband because she couldn't birth a boy. She started collecting plastic bottles and polythene bags to provide for her children after the husband left. She has been doing this for 20 years. She now collects plastics solely to provide school fees for her son who is in senior six and about to join university.
________

One day on my way to work, I saw a lady carrying sacks of bottles, I stopped and asked her do you not have children or someone to help you carry these heavy sacks?

Annette was kind enough to tell me about her work and family. On another day, I met Sarah and then later on Hajjat.

These women work hard for their children and grandchildren and their contribution to the environment should be noticed. They should be encouraged and paid for their service as exemplary citizens of Uganda. That is was inspired this story and work.
