A Chip In The Wall , 2024
160 x 36 x 5 cm (h x w x d)
Oil paint & found objects on canvas: wire & broken vase

An image of a broken jug thrown at a wall, frozen in time, to show the moment of escalation to violence in an argument. A jug, usually filled with flowers, symbolises love and purity, now destroyed. A commentary on the cyclical nature of abuse and domestic violence, this artwork is inspired by both Julian Schabel’s plate assemblage paintings and Sunkwan Kwon, a Korean visual artist and photographer, specifically his artwork A Woman Losing in Thought and Looking in the Mirror (2008).
