What is enchanting is the narrative behind hidden decay. Erosion encompasses dismissal through its unprepossessing nature; however, decomposition holds a poetical beauty- specifically with fragility, that is often overlooked. My thematic interest in erosion and decomposition led me to study geology and to create a correlation between installation art and geoscience. My inspiration comes from unstable geological and living forms that are in a state of transition and flux. I am interested in the subtle depiction of time through erosion, and the dichotic relationship between permeance and impermanence of damage. I create through an ambient process which personifies decomposition and erosion within abandoned landscapes. This methodology entails installations that include kiln-formed glass, casting metals, and exploring nontraditional media, which is how I create in today’s multi-media art world. My installations invite the viewer to be submersed inside of forgotten and decomposing features of this world. Within the quietly unnoticed peculiar process of gradual decay, through time, perhaps the viewer then realizes that we too are gradually decaying and have a peculiar beauty within our own decay.
