Mithila Art
80 x 120 cm (h x w)

Mithila paintings are one of the artistic outputs of the MAP ‘Picturing Past, Present, and Future (PPPF)’ in Nepal. In Nepal, PPPF collaborated with Janaki Women Awareness Society (JWAS).

"This artwork represents the real-life story of a young girl participant. The young girl's mother died when she was very young (bottom-left). Then, she lived with her aunt. The next picture is about how the young girl was taken care of by her aunt with all her love and affection. She continued her education with the support of her aunt. The picture on the right shows a young girl's dream for the future.

After she lost her mother, her father did not care for her. He and his relatives did not visit or ask about her. So, the presence of men is missing in her life. This is the life she prefers now."
