Mithila Art
80 x 120 cm (h x w)

Mithila paintings are one of the artistic outputs of the MAP ‘Picturing Past, Present, and Future (PPPF)’ in Nepal. In Nepal, PPPF collaborated with Janaki Women Awareness Society (JWAS).

"This artwork is based on the positive saying one woman is equal to many people (EK Nari Sabpe Bhari). One woman does many activities. It also represents the past, present and expected future lives of women.

In the past, women were mainly obliged to do household chores (left).
Today, women are now involved in sports (a cricket bat is shown), girls are going to school, and women are also earning money (middle).
And the right side of the artwork shows the girls' dreams for the future. They want to be bosses in an office."
