ARTIST STATEMENT

The core of Ciara’s practice is informed by memory, specifically the relationship between memory and time in the context of familial life. She is interested in using her work to reflect the constructing, recording, and tracing of memory in a state of it slowly shifting, distorting, and deteriorating over time. Her work is concerned with the traces of memory found in objects left behind and the dialogues that form between objects of the past and present. Through her use of steel, cement, wood, collage and teabags, she is able to reflect this.
