"This picture is of a very polite and engaging salesman, who runs a small business from his trouser pocket. He walks along the beach and the streets of Vieux Fort, St. Lucia selling handmade trinkets which he made out of materials collected from the nearby beaches.
He takes pride in his finished pieces and you can see this from his regular polishing of them and his explanations of how they were made and the materials that he uses. He said that his trade was learned from his father.
On this day I was gently persuaded to purchase not one but two of his items. He sells his products to locals and tourists alike and welcomes friendly negotiation.
When I took this picture he had reminded me of Moses with the staff ready to part the Red Sea and his hair looks bleached from the scorching Caribbean sun."
