Saturday Sargassum Sea
Digital art photography

Location: St. Lucia

"Two fathers and their children hike early on a Saturday morning at Cas En Bas, Saint Lucia. They climb to the top of a rock overlooking the sea.

From where they stand, they can see the mothers below waiting on a beach blanketed in Sargassum. On their left, each wave crests white, barreling more Sargassum onto the shore. To the right, they can see the edge of the land swelling inward, now dry and waiting thirstily for the rains to come. The fresh smell of salt and rotting Sargassum fills the air. The children cannot swim today."
