Daily Telegraph critic Terence Mullaly wrote of Cohen's 'notable' 1963 London exhibition:'The artist's technical achievements are formidable. The drawings, which like Domenico Tiepolo's on the same theme make use of a nervous pen line and wash, emphasize that Cohen is one of the best draughtsmen at work to-day. The oil […] employ a blaze of colour or smouldering tones to establish mood. Only Picasso in one or two early works has in our time touched such depths through the characters of the Commedia dell'Arte'.
