This painting represents a scene from the Hong Kong film Days of Being Wild debuted in 1990. The theme of the artwork is inspired by a line in the film: "I thought a minute can pass very fast but sometimes it takes long." As an art form employed to represent the passage of time, every single frame of a film is important in storytelling. In this sense, every second counts.
Chow depicts a scene from the film with his drawing, as if he captures a frozen instant of time and presents it to the audience, inviting them to reinterpret the meaning of the scene, as well as to be absorbed in the romantic moment.
