Pride Month takes place every June as a celebration of the LGBT+ community and history. It commemorates the Stonewall Riots in response to police violence against queer people. I was inspired by the work of gay artists like Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe to create a bold graphic that represents at least one aspect of pride month. I thought about the history of the LGBT+ community and the mythology around “the brick” that started the Stonewall Riots. The different versions of my design are a creative experiment as well as a way to celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of queer life.
