Durante i mesi del lockdown, Hirst ha realizzato le due opere in mostra, scaricabili gratuitamente dagli utenti in formato pdf (poster A3). Le versioni originali del lavoro sono state vendute in edizione limitata, e il ricavato devoluto in favore del National Health Service inglese.
Le opere rappresentano un cuore e un arcobaleno, simboli di solidarietà e speranza. L’armonia dell’insieme è tuttavia minacciata da un elemento perturbante: le fasce colorate dell’arcobaleno sono state infatti realizzate a partire da ali di farfalle vive incollate sulla tela, in un’opera in cui la bellezza si sforza di non sublimare, e non dimenticare, la presenza della morte, tema ricorrente nella ricerca dell’artista.

During the months of lockdown, Hirst created the two works on display, which can be downloaded free of charge by users in pdf format (poster A3). The original versions of the work were sold in a limited edition, and the proceeds donated to the British National Health Service.
The works represent a heart and a rainbow, symbols of solidarity and hope. The harmony of the whole, however, is threatened by a disturbing element: the colorful bands of the rainbow were in fact made with live butterfly wings glued to the canvas, in a work in which beauty strives not to sublimate, and not to forget, the presence of death, a recurring theme in the artist's research.
