Sugartural , 2023
w = 100, d = 2 cm

Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the western world. In the USA, 14.7 million children and adolescents are at risk: this trend is expected to increase over the next few years, forecasting 50% of the US population to be obese by 2030.*

The extensive use of high-fructose corn syrup in sweets and beverages is one of the leading causes of obesity, and companies are incentivised to keep increasing the amount of sugar in products due to its highly addictive nature.

We are imagining a future where even trees will be engineered to grow candies, creating the new natural, or sugartural. Will our children ever know what an apple tastes like?
