Christine Wylie's artwork explores systematic ways of exploring ways of working with mediums that explore line, form and space.

Previous to a hand operation, she was unable to make her usual etchings, so endeavoured to replicate her work in photolithography - which proved challenging and a big learning curve. However, she printed a new series of works of two diptychs entitled Bound/Unbound Newsprint and Bound/Unbound Tissue, investigating the throw aways items involved in printmaking. Archival newsprint and tissue paper are habitually used by printmakers as throw away items in the process of printmaking. She decided to focus on these papers as part of her ongoing investigation into the properties of paper. The papers were bound with elastic bands for two hours and photographed. The bands were removed and the paper allowed to unfurl for two hours and photographed again. The resulting imaged were processed into lithographs, which although are unable to attain the variation of tones of photogravure, nonetheless still have that softness that she strived for. Bound/Unbound Newsprint was shown at the joint Society of Scottish Artists & Visual Arts Scotland Annual Exhibition at the end of 2019, and Bound/Unbound Tissue was selected to be exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy early in 2020, which unfortunately went online due to Covid-19. The edition of each is three.

Christine Wylie exhibits regularly in the UK and abroad, most notably in Australia and New Zealand.
