Artist Statement

This piece is called “Luscious Growth” and it portrays a young woman staring directly into the lens with an intense expression. It retains elements such as colour, texture, and shape and also, it contains the principal of contrast. The process involved a setup in a studio to capture a generic portrait with a plain white backdrop. The real process begun when I began editing it with Photoshop. It involved lots of tools and utility to achieve such a surreal cutout of the skin.

The big idea behind my artwork was to showcase inner beauty using surrealism. Creating such an artwork taught me many secrets of Photoshop and how many tools there are to support such creativity in the future. This portrait further supports that goal as it shows others the inner beauty of someone behind their normal appearance. I want to allow others to see the world through my lens of creativity.
