Tony's Headshot & Biography

I’m a native Texan from Denton. After seminary and time spent as a hospital chaplain, I entered the Army in 2005.

After my Chaplain Officer Basic Course, I was out on orders for Iraq with an attack aviation unit. While there, I was in a Blackhawk that was hit by a vehicle-borne IED just before landing at Washington heliport, Baghdad.

My Army career continued until the TBI from that event and a demyelinating nerve condition necessitated my medical retirement in 2014.

My injuries have made many of the hobbies that I had before out of my reach. Painting became something I could do to occupy my body and mind. It wasn’t something I ever thought I could do until it was an activity offered at the Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Riley.

I’ve always loved the Impressionists and later artists like Van Gogh. I attempt to marry their influences with the beauty of the South Plains of Texas.

I will be bringing paintings in both acrylic and oil mediums.
