A pencil drawing on A3 paper depicting my secret longing for friendship. I was inspired by the concept of 'ma' (roughly translating to 'empty space'), in particular the use of 'ma' in Hayao Miyazaki's films to convey a feeling of respite and peace. Hence, I chose to leave the background blank to imply this sense of peace and self-reflection between the two figures. I made rough outlines before refining the line art and using various graphite pencils and blenders to add details and shading.
