“It’s ok, con” , 2024
92 x 74 cm (h x w)
Digital Drawing

This artwork carries personal meaning tied to the loss of my father, first to divorce and then to cancer. During that time, I became far more disconnected from him than I should have been. Following his passing a year ago, I was left with extreme feelings of guilt and regret that I had been a bad daughter. One night, I dreamed my father hugged me and told me "It's ok con," con meaning child in Vietnamese. This repaired me and left me knowing my dad always loved me. My drawing depicts a moment of sadness and the powerlessness to change the past. Yet, even so, the beauty of all things, as shown through the colors, keep me moving forward and caring for myself.
