Oil on canvas

This piece represents an internal conflict one experiences when making a self-discovery which is both desirable and scary. The tense, defensive figure is seemingly caught trying to open a tiny door. Under a hidden threat, she covers the lock, in animalistic fear, denying access both to the intruder and herself. The surreal setup references Alice in Wonderland, with the reduced, gloomy color-scheme adding elegance. The textured skin conveys fragility and pitifulness of the distressed figure.
