The Cage of Reality , 2021
Acrylic, paper, and marker on canvas

With this piece, I aimed to demonstrate the idea that the reality I understand is only one of various fragments that make up the entire plane of existence. The triangles that make up this piece were originally one sheet that was cut in order to exemplify the concept of universal consciousness. We, all the things that are alive, are interconnected through the shared experience of existence. Some of the designs on the triangles match up with triangles on the canvas because our existences can share similarities, like culture and shared experiences. This being said, we can never fully understand the realities of one another because reality is individualized. Everyone sees a different reality due to the limitations of perspective and our environmental exposures. What I think, feel, and experience can never perfectly match someone else. I can never fully escape from the "box" that binds me to my unique existence.
