I used sharpie pens for my Day of the Dead mask design. The main theme around this mask is love and heartbreak. One side is bright red while the other half is a dark black to signify these themes. The heart at the top of the head gives off the feeling that the heart is pumping out love and heartbreak all over the skull. The red veins represent love while the black veins represent heartbreak. The red veins have a little shine, almost as if love is pure while the black veins are leaking out, like as if the heartbreak has become so immense that the veins cannot hold anymore of it. The red rose signifies love growing while the black rose represents dying love.
