Bio: I joined the Army straight out of high school[I needed the money for college]. After my first enlistment I got out and started my family. I went back in, following the September 11th attacks on America. I was injured in Iraq February 1st, 2011. I retired November 30th, 2013.

Impact art has made: I rediscovered art, specifically painting, while seeking a way to handle depression and anxiety.

New Beginnings: The subject of "new beginnings" brought many thoughts to mind: my injury, my recovery, retirement, and adjusting to my new way of life.

The picture that I chose was from a photo taken on the day of my wedding. There was a rain shower during our reception. After the reception we were going to swim, and this was the scene that greeted us.
