ABOUT AMURI MORRIS!
My name is Amuri Morris and I'm currently based in Richmond, Virginia. My primary medium is oil paint but I am currently seeking to utilize more traditional printmaking techniques in my portfolio. I am passionate about speaking on the intersectional adversities of blackness, womanhood, and class. I aim to depict black beauty and excellence within this. Art allows me to heal by creating reimagined spaces and alternate realities where black women are allowed to be elevated to new levels. One of my biggest achievements is winning a VMFA Fellowship and being a finalist in AXA Art Prize. I have also participated in over two dozen group exhibitions. Additionally, I've completed work for clients like VCU and AIGA.
